About me
Mike Herchuck is the Executive Vice President of Operations at American Social, leading the Food & Beverage, Support, and Operations teams. In this role, he oversees the planning and execution of all menus, operations, training, and programming—including budgeting, cost management, people development, and branding—to drive growth and operational excellence. Under his leadership, American Social has earned several prestigious food and beverage awards and was recently recognized as one of the Top 100 Independent Restaurants in the U.S.
Growing up in Massachusetts, Mike was immersed in the bar business from an early age, with his family owning and operating a bar for over 40 years. Despite his deep-rooted connection to hospitality, he pursued a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Massachusetts, seeking a challenge beyond the industry. While in college, he discovered a passion for restaurant leadership, working at a high-end events facility and interning in marketing with Def Jam Records.
Before joining American Social, Mike held key roles at Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill, most recently serving as Director of Operations Support. In this position, he oversaw regional operations, training, cost management, and food & beverage programs across 65 locations. His leadership contributed to record-breaking sales, profitability, and new unit growth.
Mike joined American Social in 2018 as Director of Operations, drawn to the challenge of shaping a fast-growing, innovative brand. His impact was immediate—implementing new accounting and inventory systems that improved cost efficiency and profitability while leading the development of a revamped food & beverage program that drove guest traffic. Additionally, he focused on recruiting top-tier leadership and fostering a culture centered on people and brand growth. In 2024, he was promoted to Executive Vice President of Operations, where he continues to drive AmSo’s expansion and national recognition.
Beyond his professional role, Mike is passionate about the beverage industry and enjoys collecting books on cocktail history, industry trends, classic and modern recipes, and the cultural impact of spirits around the world—and he also happens to have a ridiculous rum collection. He is a devoted Boston sports fan and recently celebrated his engagement to his fiancé, Alexandra. Together, they share their home with two energetic Australian Shepherds who keep them on their toes.
